The Huelga! 10 Sep 2004
Finish teaching about 9:10 with no power in the area we decided to go home. In oreder for us to get to our house we needed to take a "publico" (public cab) and we did. I had probably two weeks on the mission field. I was sitting on the back of the car with my trainer Elder Byrge. I was sitting to the right and he to the Left. It was a dark night but soon it became pretty brigth. There was a tire on fire in the middle of the street, the driver didn't see it before cause we were turning when we got caught up in the inferno in front of us. The driver tried to avoid the fire by turning. While he was forcing a fast turn and there was a lot of fear of the moment, the man who set the tire on fire was waiting for the first car to pass by. Of course, as your imagine right now it was us. He throw a rock against the car that hit the right back window, which was half open, and broke it hitting my face with the glass of the window. It felt like one of those bottles with gas that explode when they hit something. I thought it was that and that I lost half of my face. It was a horrible experience. Then I looked at my companion who was asking if everybody was Ok and then I answer I was not. Then he looked at me and freaked out. Then he certainly confirm my fears about my face being burned. I looked at my shirt and saw blood and then he told me that I wasn't burn but bleeding. I was really scared and the driver was asking also about the accident, my companion told him I was injured and then the driver wanted to take us to the hospital, but my companion refused and wanted him to drop us off at the street of our house. We went to the house and then I looked at myself in the mirror. I was so afraid cause my parents are not member and I didn't want them to see me later at the end of my mission and blame the church for it. Well, my companion cleaned my eyes and my face a little bit. I had glass on my eyes and my face. He then call the Assistants from a Colmado and they wanted us to wait for the other and then take a taxi to the capital. We did and got to the mission office where Doctor Drake was waiting. They took me to the hospital and gave a bleesing before entering. I'll finish it up later!
