Dear former missionaries of ELSANE,
Although Presidents Richardson nor Nelson will be able to attend a mission reunion this time around, several of us former missionaries have decided to get together anyway and have a good time visiting and catching up on all the many things that have gone on in our lives. It will as usual be planned for the Friday before General Conference, October 1, 2004 at 6:30 pm at 1284 West 1950 North in Provo, Utah (home of Sondra Stout- aka Hermana Stout :). If there are any questions, please call me at (801) 787-8541 cell, or (801) 373-4504 home, or email me at stoutinelsalvador@hotmail.com. Hope everyone can come!
Sincerely, Sondra Stout
P.S I did not have emails for everyone, so please spread the word!

HELP (Help ELiminate Poverty) International is currently recruiting volunteers for the coming summer (04). HELP International is a non-profit organization that fights poverty in Latin America and was created to provide a life changing experience through service to the poor. The way we do this is to train and mobilize students, returned missionaries and others to have a community development experience and provide humanitarian service abroad. HELP offers the opportunity to once again serve the people who will always hold a place in your heart. This year, we are returning to our programs in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Brazil.
The basic summary of what we do is as follows: HELP works with partner organizations to promote development at a community level. Volunteers are trained in square-foot gardening, micro-finance/micro-credit training, and ESL (English as a Second Language). We also work in health/medical care, in orphanages, home building and a wide variety of other projects.
The time commitment necessary to participate is a minimum six week commitment. There are waves going down for 6, 12 or 16 weeks but that is flexible. The cost is the same whether you go six weeks or the whole summer. We do offer fundraising and scholarships to help cover the program fee and airfare.
Couples are welcome and encouraged. We even have a couple going down this year with three children! This is the chance youve been looking for to share with your spouse the country or the culture that you fell in love with on your mission.
Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is not required, but is a definite asset.
If you are interested or just want some more information check out the website at www.help-international.org or email me at mindy@help-international.org.

Since I've been home I have only heard of one mission reunion. I have talked to several missionaries who I served with and everyone wants to get together. If you want to get something together send me an email at missi86@hotmail.com. I will get a hold of everyone if you send me an email and I will set something up.

I just got back from El Salvador and everything is great down there! I went to help rebuild homes after the earthquake damage. It was an incredible trip. If anyone wants to know about it, or find out how to volunteer for next summer, let me know! I've got some cool pictures too.

LDS QUOTE: |
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lords work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
