Stories: A little story

Wow - no stories. That's like silence in testimony meeting. I'll go first then, shall I?
A few of you may have met the Mora family in your time serving anywhere near Canton and Hickory Flat Wards. Abraham and Lora are a young mum and dad with 3 little girls, and we started working with his parents and brothers and sisters.
I served in the area for 10 and a half months in total and though they came close a few times, and were taught the discussions in Spanish and English, it seemed like an impossible task to help them see the need to be baptised for a third time. It was discouraging but we didn't drop them despite the advice of other people. They continued to come to church and saw a lot of other people come and be baptised, but they said they just didn't feel the need.
Like a lot of other people on all of our missions I wondered if I had wasted my time there, or what more I could have done. But a few weeks ago I was told that they had been baptised and were attending the Spanish branch. This is the part were you read D&C 3:1 and know that no effort is ever wasted, even when we don't see the immediate effects of our efforts! I think this is a lesson that applies to our member missionary work and all of our callings and responsibilities. The efforts we put forth in the Lord's work are never ever a waste and His purposes cannot be frustrated! I hope you can remember that when you look back on everyone you met out in the field of GA! |
