Teaching was my favorite calling, both in the church and as a career as a public school teacher and university adjunct. I served in various teaching positions at the ward and stake levels--a clerk a number of times, but I disliked the accounting part, and knowing other people's business was also something I did not like, want or need.
Recently, helping with my Home Teaching companion to reactivate a family has proven to be something I have not felt since my mission. To see people finally motivated toward the church through prayer, lessons and testimony is rewarding.
And I almost forgot! One group of Blazers still makes me smile, mostly because of how many candy bars it took to bribe them to sit quietly. No amount of preparation seemed to satisfy like a good Snickers. However, later I found that they listened more than I thought they did. I should have known that, since my teachers said the same thing about me. |
