Stories: 40 Years of Mormon Missionaries
Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add Story
In 1969, two LDS missionaries serving in Hagen went looking for a new place to live. Elder Michael Mcdonough and his companion went to what appeared to be the 'end of the world', which they later learned was Bolohstrasse 100. Heinz and Edith Frigger were building their new home and apartments. The missionaries inquired with Mr. Frigger about renting an apartment, and the rest is history. 2009 marks the 40th year anniversary of missionaries living with Heinz and Edith Frigger. Anyone who had the privilege of living at Bolohstrasse 100 know exactly what I mean, when I state that it was the finest place a missionary could land. Too many stories to tell, too many memories to share. But we would all be wise to learn from the Friggers, who for 40 years have selfishly given of themselves, their means, their love and their friendship, to become temporary parents of those who lived in their home. Please join me in thanking the Friggers, wishing them well, and hoping for many more years to come as missionaries continue to live at Bolohstrasse 100. The total number is now rapidly approaching 190 missionaries over 40 years. President Thomas S. Monson and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf recently recognized the Friggers in correspondence with me, which was in turn shared with Friggers. In typical fashion, Edith responded with a laugh, 'Wir sind jetzt sehr bekannt in Salt Lake City, nicht?" We love you Heinz, Edith and die Maedchen..... |
