Houston-based attorney & energy industry consultant. Have worked on business projects on 6 continents.
I greatly appreciate the training from my mission. This has allowed me to be in the right place at the right time -- including the opportunity to place a Book of Mormon with a retired member of the Indian federal cabinet and to teach (auf Deutsch) and baptize in Texas a German visiting our country. This new member, a former professional soccer player, is now now servining in his ward's young men presidency. He is by lineage half German and half Angolan. He is already trying to get his Angolan family interested in the Gospel -- including a senior finance minister and the Angolan ambassador to France.
I've had a variety of church callings. My favorite: Gospel Essentials Instructor (3 times). This is one calling where I believe you really can impact the lives of others. 2nd favorite: 11-year-old Sunday School teacher (team taught with my wife).
In terms of my personal life, I have had the chance to see much of the world as a part of my work. Most of my work involves power plant development and refinery construction upgrade activities throughout North and Central America, and other locations (including India, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, The Philippines, and South Africa). Yes, I'm having to learn Spanish.
I am married to Bunny Cooper from Thousand Oaks, California (I was 32 when I met her; we were engaged two months later) and have 3 college-age children:
Adam (23): BYU student and Rio de Janeiro RM
Bryce (22): Soccer player for BYU-Hawaii and BYU after his mission to the Dominican Republic
Allison (19): Student at BYU-Idaho.
