Comments: From Mazatenango we hiked to Iztapa, a little thatched hut
village on the coast. We played football and games all afternoon. At about
midnight we feel asleep under the little huts on the beach only to be awakened
by a huge lightning storm at 2am. We weren't supposed to stay the night
and the Lord let us know by sending a message. We four know that lightning
can strike any place any number of times, it just depends on who is throwing
it!! We were humbled into great submission and never did it again! Although
I'm not sure I regretted it either.

Comments: I went back in Jan of 1995. It was good to visit all my areas
and to see how the church has grown. I stayed at the current East Mission
Home. My father-in-law, Ronald Hall, has been president of the mission
there for the past three years. He was released in July of this year. He
said El Salvador is currently baptising aprox. 600 each month. That is
the highest per missionary per country in the world! Several new stakes
were created this year. By the way Zacatecoluca is currently in the East
mission boundries not the West, even though the stake falls in the jurisdiction
of the West. For any who would like to contact Presidente Hall, he and
Hermana Hall are leaving in September to teach English in China.

Comments: When tracting in Siquinala, (Santa Lucia district and zone)
with Elder Malouf, we kept knocking doors (they had doors?) and kept passing
the last house on the left in the entrance. ONE NIGHT we did a service
to a sister by helping her carry a heavy load of firewood back to her home
across the creek. When we passed by that house again the next day we both
stopped dead in our tracks, inspired to talk to the last house that we
could never reach. The woman Senora Pineda, said "Por que no me han
visitado, los he estado esparando que vinieren. . ." She later told
us that she saw us help the sister and knew we had an important message
when we would come from the states and help out like that. She and her
family were about to be baptized when they closed the area.

Comments: Pres. Arnold, in my exit interview told me that I didn't
"necessarily" have to get to married within 3 months after I
got home from my mission. I rationalized age 30 was probably good...thank
heavens I did wait so I could catch up with my incredible wife of 14 years,
Robin. We have 3 lovely daughters and live just outside of Philadelphia.
I'm a Sales Executive for a commercial printing company and am working
again with the Young Men in church as well as serving as 3rd Counselor

10 years).
