Jeremy Litster wanted to create a unique first date with Rachel Orme. His solution? The Boise pair had dinner at a table perched on the pedestrian bridge on Overland Road at Sage Street.
The sunset dinner date caused quite a stir among motorists passing under the pair. Cars and even a fire truck honked at the dining couple.
The pair met at church, and Litster, 28, decided he wanted to take Orme, 27, on something other than the typical dinner-and-movie first date. Inspiration came Friday morning as Litster drove on Overland: "I saw the bridge and thought, 'Oh, my gosh, how fun would it be to eat on the bridge?'"
The menu included bottled water and Hawaiian-style pizza that Pizza Hut delivered to the bridge. Soda cans placed around the table kept the "tablecloth" from blowing away. The cloth was white linen — well, a white bed sheet. "It's clean, I swear," Litster said.
Did Litster achieve his goal of impressing his date? Apparently, yes.
"It's great," Orme said. "It's fun to do something different."
Litster said he had another surprise planned for after dinner, but he wouldn't share his secret.
"I don't know how you're going to top this," Orme said.
