Harold W. Bodon, 59, Joplin 1st Ward, Joplin Missouri Stake; stake director of public affairs; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president, elders quorum president, and Sunday School teacher; French and German professor at Missouri Southern College; received bachelor's degree in French and history from the University of Utah, master's degree in educational administration at California State-Hayward and doctorate in French literature and German linguistics from BYU; born in Stuttgart, Germany, to Heinrich and Lina Louise Dora Bullerdieck Bodon; married Sonja Nelly Zbinden, two children. She is second counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency; former stake Relief Society board member, Relief Society president and spiritual living teacher, Young Women president's counselor, MIA Maid adviser, Primary teacher, and choir director; born in Biel, Switzerland, to Rene Guillaume and Ida Maurer Zwahlen Zbinden.

Harold W. Bodon became President of the LDS Haiti, Port-au-Prince Mission after replacing Fritzner A. Joseph in July 1996, after attending the conference for new mission presidents at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT.

Harold W. Bodon has taught both French and German for the past 35 years, both on the high school level and on the university level at Missouri Southern College. President Bodon has also coached soccer for the past 24 years, hence he is uniquely suited to service in Haiti.

He and his wife, Sonja--a medical secretary for the past 25 years-- were both born in Europe (Germany and Switzerland), and he has studied in California and Utah.

President Bodon passed away in 2023.
