Selamat pagi. As most of you know President Hinckley and Elder Packer will be visiting Indonesia at the ivitation of President Gus Dur at the end of the month (they met last August when Gus Dur was in SLC for an operation and received a blessing from Pres. Hinckley). Preparations are in full gear for an Area conference in Jakarta on January 28. The members will rent buses to Jakarta. Semarang will have two buses, Yogya two, Solo 8 and Surabaya 2, Bandung 1 and Bogor 1. They will stay overnight at Boyscout complex near Taman Mini.

Subandriyo wrote me last night with the following message:

We are also getting the amount needed to help pay transportation for our members from outside Jakarta about 23 million rupiah. The members in Jakarta, including expats are contributing money for this purpose. If you ever get donations from friends, you may transfer to the following US$ account:
>>
>>Bank Nusa Nasional (BNN)
>>Landmark Center Branch
>>Account name and number:
>>KEPURIN
>>0101004449
>>
>>Terima kasih for your bantuan.

We found out last fall with the Taipei temple trip donations that transfering money can be complicated and require additional expenses. My brother-in-law Lant Pritchett works in Indonesia with the World Bank. His wife (Diane Tueller Pritchett--my wife's sister) is directing the 80+ voice choir for the visit (they are singing Randy Morris' "Truth for ever more" and "The Spirit of God"). They have agreed to help. If you want to donate you can send me a check by January 24 and then I will e-mail the Pritchetts with the total amount donated, they will withdraw that amount in rupiah and give it to President Subandriyo and then I will send the Pritchetts a check via the World Bank pouch to reimburse them. It worked once and should work again. My mailing address is:

Subandriyo reports that Returned Missionaries Frans Lambrechtson, Janet
Kelly and Wayne Jones will be traveling to Indonesia for the conference. He also reports that Pres. Hinckley will announce the creation of the Jakarta Indonesia stake. He reported that missionary work is going slower than usual and requested our prayers (including the temple roll).
