Comments: Well, a lot has happened since last I updated this profile...On Thanksgiving Day 2004 pathology result from a lump in my neck came back…cancer! That is a tough word to swallow. I have Hodgkins Lymphoma or Hodgkins Disease stage II (nodular sclerosing for those with access to path texts). Its a pretty rare cancer that affects the immune system. The good news is that my prognosis is better than 90% with chemo Tx. For all of the details read the blog my wife has been posting to. http://nickshodgkins.blogspot.com/ the journey begins at the bottom of the page. I’ve been through 3 chemo treatments. I have at least 5 more maybe 9. I have another PET scan to check the progress in 2 wks. Chemo sucks but at least it will save my life! :)
Update...It has been a year and a half since I complete treatment. I feel fine and the doctors feel pretty confident that this is all behind me. I have follow up visits every 3 to 4 months which has put a limit on how long I can be deployed. Yes, I am now on active duty in the Army serving as a dentist. I have been here in Germany for close to 2 months. It is fun to experience a different culture again. |
