In 1985 I married Eiko Mori shimai from Kagoshima Sendai. In 1988 we moved to Tokyo and lived there for ten years while I was employed as an architect by Kajima Corporation. All six of our children were born in Japan. We moved back to Oregon for a couple of years and I taught at the University of Oregon Department of Architecture. We are now living in Hong Kong and I am teaching at Hong Kong University Department of Architecture.
Eiko's doing great! Half our kids think they are Japanese, and the other half swear they are American. We speak Japanese at home to the 'American' kids, and English to the 'Japanese' kids. It's a riot!
