Married margaret Rowe in 1983. We have three children: boys born in 1986 and 1989, and a girl born in 1997. I graduated from the University of alaska in 1987 (BS Electircal Engineering), University of Utah in 1989 (MS EE), and University of Arizona in 1996 (Ph.D. Optical Sciences). I worked at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for 1989-2001, and am now a professor of electrical engineering & physics (optics specialty) at Montana State University. I develop and use optical instruments for remote sensing. Nature photography remains a favorite passion.
