Native NIHONJIN RM site? 12 Mar 2016
Just wondered if a site exists for the native NIHONJIN Elders? I would love to connect with my companions that will never visit this site.

Any ideas?

Lyrics for called to serve... 01 Mar 2011
A friend of mine is in charge of a Japanese portion of a missionary youth activity and neither one of us can recall the lyrics for called to serve...

I'm close with some of them but its been so long they hover just out of reach... and unfortunately, my Japanese hymnal is packed away at the top of a barn in MO at the moment while I'm in NM.

Can anyone help me out with the lyrics for the first first an chorus?

Thanks,

Joseph

Pres. Nishihara 07 Apr 2008
Just in case anyone missed it during General Conference, Pres. Nishihara was called as an Area Authority on Sunday. I have always thought he would eventually be called to something like that, so it was exciting to hear his name in the list of those sustained. Hopefully, this new call will also bring him to Utah more often, and we can schedule a reunion soon.

I didn't know Shoemaker-choro all that well, but he impressed me with this kind heart and wittyness. My prayers are with you.

Gil Shoemaker 14 Mar 2007
Gil lost his battle with Leukemia on March 6. His passing was quick and peaceful. His Heavenly Father has a mission for him to fulfill on the other side. I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers in our behalf, they mean so much.

Gil Shoemaker 09 Feb 2007
This is Lisa - Gil's wife. I'm sure some of you knew Gil and served with him and I would like to ask you to keep him in your prayers. He was diagnosed with Leukemia the day after Christmas and is struggling with everything that goes along with it. We live in Houston Texas and he started out at St. Luke's Hospital and the chemo had no effect. We were then transferred to MD Anderson, which is (thank goodnes we live here) the top cancer hospital in the US. The round of chemo he had there (investigational trial) helped some but did not get rid of all the cancer in the bone marrow. The doctors have said he can't be cured with just chemo; the Leukemia is a very aggressive type and there were many chromosome changes. He'll need a stem cell transplant (formerly called a bone marrow transplant.) They are just trying to keep the cancer out of his blood long enough so they can do that. It will be about 4 - 6 weeks before they find a match. Please remember him in your prayers; we are going to have a very tough road ahead of us and there are no guarantees.

Book Recommendation 05 Jul 2006
Webmaster Wayne expresses an opinion: I just finished a book about Brother Tatsui Sato, the Japanese Translator of the Bk of M. I was moved.
It is VERY inspiring and the author, Sister Mori has a special conversion story of her own. It is a story that touches all of us, because w/o the Bk of M. the work suffers. There were 66 baptisms in during the year that the book was published. The next year the baptisms tripled. Also this man had the ability to translate in such beautiful Japanese language. Japanese citizens have been known to cry when reading a passage from the book.
It is well worth your time to read this book.
NFEM and it's board do NOT offer things for sale or ask you to buy. This book is so special and affects all of us I want to let you know where you could get one.
If you are interested, it is available as follows:
BIOGRAPHY OF TATSUI SATO – The Other Side of the Rising Sun – The Story of Tatsui Sato, 2005, by Sister Komae Mori is available for $15.00 in English, $17.00 in Japanese via BYU Bookstore; through JACL (Japanese American Citizens League) Credit Union at 242 South 400 East, Salt Lake City, phone 363-8040; Tomiko Sato at 2546 South 800 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84106, phone (801) 485-1748.

Akutsu Kazunobu 24 May 2006
I am trying to contact Akutsu but have been unable to track him. He served from 90-92 and is from Noboribetsu, up near Hokkaido. If anyone knows contact info, it would be greatly appreciated. He was an awesome chef and a good friend, as well as a "learn by ear" pianist. Thanks...

Info about a missionary 01 May 2006
If any of you missionaries who served under Ushio or Blalock Dendo Bucho remember a Garcia Choro who was in the mission office when we arrived in Japan( I assume it was around 1983 to 1984), please give me some information on him. We used to go on splits occassionally, and he seemed like a really good missionary to me. Thank you.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
