I began serving my mission in the MTC on August 28, 1980 and arrived in Sapporo the week after the Tokyo Temple Dedication. I served in three areas being in each area 5-6 months each. I first served in Shiroishi Nov '80-April '81 with Nelson S, Shima S, and Tanaka S. In May '81 I transferred to Otaru and served with Abo S, and Yamanoha S. In September '01 I transferred to Odori and served with Tamashiro S, Yamanoha S, Shoji S, and Arakaki S. My mission ended on March 12, 1982.
Following my mission I returned to Provo and attended graduate school at BYU in Recreation Administration. Following graduated school I moved back to Arizona in August 1984 and have been here since.
I met my husband Donald Ray that fall and we were married March 14, 1985. We are the parents of 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls). the eldest is serving a mission in South Carolina. My son was also trained in the mission field by Elder Kikuchi in Nov '05.
As far as church service goes I have pretty much served in all the auxillaries Primary, YW, and RS. I currently serve as the Nursery Leader which was a nice change of pace after serving for 3 years as RS President.
I have always felt my mission established a wonderful foundation for the rest of my life and will always be grateful to the Hotta Family, my companions, district and zone leaders for all they added to my mission and the ways they supported me in my service.
My testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ continues to grow as I continue to learn and serve. Eternal perspective is such a blessing. We truly can be instruments in the hands of the Lord to carry the work forward. May we all continue in so great a cause and as President Hinckley says, "Carry On". |
