| A little predating the recent earthquakes mentioned, but back in early 93 there was an earthquake off the east coast up in the 5's on the richter. The district in Abashiri was on splits, kobetsu'ing one of the student highrise apartments. (alright, Highrise for that area, nothing like you see in Sapporo or Tokyo)
Nothing like being up on the 13th floor talking to a college guy in his apartment, then all of a sudden feeling the whole building rock back and forth for a good 45 seconds. Dishes falling and everything.. |
