even more Otaru memories 28 Oct 2003
Rodgers Choro, I can't remember the name of the apartment. I remember doing the laundry in that little triangle shaped 'room' just off the kitchen, and we also hung our clothes to dry in the kitchen. It was actually quite a large apartment compared to my others. In the summer, we'd go on the roof to do scripture study. The picture of Saitoh Yuki wasn't there when I was. One time, the sister missionaries toilet-papered the genkan and the staircase, when we had a baptism. You are so right - EVERYTHING was uphill from that apartment. In the summer, it got so hot and humid, I thought I would die. One p-day, we went to the top of tengu-yama. that was fun. When were you companion to Elder Barrus? He was my last companion in Otaru. A few times we rode our bikes forever to visit an investigator (eternal investigator, I'm afraid) named Saitoh san. He'd been an investigator forever, do you remember him? He had an interesting room in his house where we'd meet. He had cut out hundreds of pictures of victorian furniture from catalogs, and pasted them on the walls. He also had heavy tapestry drapes, and a big mahogany desk. It was like time-warping back to the 1800's
