Does anyone have any idea of how I can find a Japanese copy of the book Mormon Doctrine? I know it was in print at one time, because I remember seeing one in a member's home during my mission. I'd like to buy a copy.
Thanks,
Simeon

Looking for anyone who knows how to get in contact with Sister Krystal Fisher. She served with Pres. Kiyabu, and possibly Pres. Moon. I know she returned to Canada after her mission, but lost track of her after that.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Abo, Tomosue
Tomosue Abo
Tomosue Abo, 86, formerly of Wahiawa and Aiea, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the home of his daughter in American Fork, Utah after a 17 year struggle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born August 8, 1922 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii to Kanematsu and Okuma Yokotake Abo. He married Helen "Lorraine" Fusae Fujimoto on January 11, 1957 in the Laie Hawaii Temple.
He was a man of great faith and a loving heart whose service touched the lives of many. He served as Mission President of the Japan Tokyo Mission from 1971 to 1974, as a counselor in the Stake Presidency in the Honolulu Hawaii West Stake from 1975 to 1981, then as a Stake President of the Honolulu Hawaii West Stake from 1981 to 1990, and as the Japan Tokyo Temple President from 1991 to 1992. Those who knew him will miss his wise counsel and loving spirit. He cared for those who could not care for themselves and spent many tireless hours helping and serving other people. Although we may miss him, we know that he has gone to a better place where, freed from this mortal world, he can continue to do what he did best on this earth; serving those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Helen "Lorraine" Abo; daughters, Nan (Jon) Healy, Joye (Frank) Lefrandt, and Fay (Michael) Francis; sons, Ben Abo and Todd (Cynthia) Abo; and 13 grandchildren, Curtis (Misty) Lefrandt, Nanette Lefrandt, Jason Lefrandt, Wade Healy, Travis Lefrandt, Kathryn Healy, Christian Abo, Natalie Lefrandt, Kalin Abo, Kai Abo, Covey Abo, Cache Abo and Kalia Abo. He is also survived by his brother, Hiromi Abo and sisters Yaeko Akagi, Sumako Clark and Betty "Cookie" Kim, all of Hawaii.
The family will receive family and friends between 4 - 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 12th at the home of his son, Todd Abo at 599 West 990 North in American Fork, UT. Funeral Services will be held in Aiea, Hawaii on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Pearlridge Chapel. Burial will be at Mililani Mortuary Park in Mililani, Hawaii.
Published in the Daily Herald on 4/11/2008.

Hello Japanese returned missionaries or friends,
We are slowly beginning to think about going to get our Missionary son, next spring 2009. We thought that if anyone had any helpful information based on your experience or things you've heard. We would love to get some ideas on how to go about planning this trip. We do not want to bother our Missionary with the details, so he can focus on the Work. We plan on traveling with some family members, possibly a total of 7 additional members. Is this crazy? Any comments or suggestions on how to begin our research? Thank you soo much. Hi, y'all. I'm just looking for a couple of addresses if anyone happens to have a current one for Kumazawa Dendobucho san

If any of y'all happen to know either, I'd appreciate you sending it along. THANKS!!!!

or to the missionaries from the Niigata district before the boundary changes;
I was just looking for those 'missionary songs' that were recorded with a guitar. I used to have two versions of them, but now all are gone.
Remember the ones I'm talking about?
There's the Sento one.
Then the song for Elder Paige.
And then the Eat Fish with a Spoon song.
The Dear John song, then the Kotae ha Kantan desu one.
Anyways, I'd really like to get a copy of those again, so if anyone can help a brother out, douzo yoroshiku onegai shimasu!

Hey, Y'all. I was just talking to some of the old mission pals and we were reminiscing about the good old recipes in the Tokyo North green cookbook that was in all the apatos. If anyone happened to "borrow" one of those or if any senkyoushi still in the mission have access to one of those...could you kindly send me an email via this site so I can request some of the old favorites? (I really want to make those butter cookies!) THANKS SO MUCH!

How can it be that it's been 25 years since our missions!? If any of you remember Dimond Choro who served in the Tokyo North Mission from 1980 to 1982, please drop me a note. I've lost touch with all of you and have been wondering how everyone is doing. Are there ever any mission reunions that cover this timeframe?

Ben,
You were my son Brian's companion back in your mission. I have a letter I wrote to you after he passed away. It was returned to me because I sent it to an incorrect address. I would love to be able to send it to you. Can you let me know how to contact you? My email address is ramonp@sfcn.org. I noticed from your profile that you're dealing with your own illness. You'll be in my prayers.
Thanks,
Ramona Payne

I am looking for any missionaries that may have taught my parents, Takao and Julie Yamada, between 1979 and 1982. My mom is from California and had moved to Japan to marry my dad, and they had their first child, Eimi, in 1981. They lived in Ryogoku, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, then moved to Kashiwa out in Chiba. They attended the English-speaking ward for a couple of years before getting baptized in October of 1982. Please email me if you knew them! Meg_Yamada@yahoo.com

We have a mission reunion coming up on the 22nd of September. We are still working on a location and will let you know where it will be when we find out. If everyone who is planning on attending can RSVP so I can make some small assignments that would be great. You can email me at blanscett@gmail.com if you have any questions.

HI, I have been in touch with Yoshimi on and off since my mission. I served 85-87. I last had contact with the Watanabe family in 2001, when they sent a christmas card. I have lost Yoshimi's email address. Can anyone help me with this? I would be extremely grateful.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Johnson

I seem to recall a chain of Curry rice shops called "Gyuyu Chen (Beef-friend chain)" from 24 years ago. I'll be back in Tokyo, and though the odds seem against it, if this chain ever existed, and still exists, I'd like to go back. Does anyone else recall this hot-spot for post-taikai dining? If so, does anyone happen to recall a real name or location?
Kind regards,
Steve

Here are some answers to common questions I have been getting:
"Where exactly is the reunion?" It is a Ward Building in East Sandy located on the east side of the street on Eastdell (2300 East) just south of 9800 South. We will make some sort of sign as well. Please call me at 801.455-2789 if you need more detailed directions.
"How many people are coming?" The easy answer is somewhere between 20 and 200 people. I have received correspondence from a lot of people and if they all come, it will be a pretty full house. Regardless, it will be fun to catch up and share memories.
Will the Buch really be there?" President Kikuchi gets into town today 3/29 and will be there. Kikuchi Shimai had to stay home this time.
"What sort of food should I bring? Does it need to be Japanese?" Bring whatever you want (main dish or dessert). Kuimasho!
"Will there be a program?" Not really. Pres. Kikuchi will probably talk a bit, but other than that it will be quite informal. We do, however, plan on getting a Karaoke machine for a future reunion.
Please contact me via email or phone with any other questions.
Thanks.

After hearing from a number of people, we have decided to go the "no kids" route this time to facilitate catching up without worrying about chasing children around the building. Things look on track for future reunions, so there will be opportunity for more family oriented gatherings the future. If you would like names of good babysitters near the reunion site, please contact me.
Dress will be casual.
A $2 per person donation would be appreciated to help cover costs. Any excess funds will be passed to the next reunion coordinator.
Please feel free call me at (801)455-2789 with questions or input. See you next Friday!
|
|
Please check the reunions section for updated information on the upcoming mission reunion!! Location and time information has been updated. More details to come soon.
