| Kwangju was my "greenie" area in the winter of 86-87. We would stand outside the visitor's center as long as we could before growing so numb from the cold that we couldn't speak. Then we would rush back inside to stand around the kerosene space heater. One time, someone had put a 100 Won coin on top of the heater while we were out. When we came back in, my companion reached to pick it up, but burned his fingers and knocked it onto the floor, where it promptly melted its way into the plastic/vinyl floor covering material. That coin was stuck there in that spot for the next three months. | |
