| I had the lovely opportunity to visit my old copanion, Sister Behymer, in Virginia this past weekend. It was so great to be at her homecoming meeting, and to attend the single adult class(AKA the support group for RM's) . You see, I have three different callings in my home ward, and I never really get to commiserate with all the returned missionaries in our ward or stake. Seeing a junior companion return from her mission is a great experience. I was beaming so much because I was so proud of the wonderful service she performed. I lived with Sister B in junju for about 9 months, served as her senior comp for only one month, and got to see her take my place as senior comp in my last area. I never really felt like I was much of an influence on her. She was already a wonderful worker and loved to serve the Lord. I was always grateful for her fresh ideas and eagerness to work. It was so wonderful to listen to her last testimony and truly see what she had become. I love her!!! She is so coooool!!!! I am so glad that I got to drive up from GA to visit her in VA. I wanted to share this experience because I feel like we don't support each other as lasting friends, as we really should. I don't live in Utah, but I bet the odds of attending a former comp's homecoming are higher out there. I'd like to encourage all of you to go and visit your friends, be there for them to reminisce with, and help them to make that transition into civilian life a little easier. Lend and ear and you'll reap the greatest of blessings. I have the added bonus of trying to set up Jackie with my Brother!!!!;) Hee, hee. Be there for each other; you didn't have the oportunity to serve together just so you could forget a friend when you came home. Thanks! | |
