conoci la iglesia hace como 3 años y desde entonces he tenido deceos de contactar a los misioneros que me enseñaron pero no lo he conseguido, asi que espero que ustedes puedan ayudarme..............

| Gracias al webmaster por haber limpiado la mugre de este site. Bastante tengo con mi vida miserable que no necesito tener que leer los pensamientos de la resaca humana que con frecuencia dejaba sus mal llamados "pensamientos" aca. To the newy called american missionary to this mission:
Congratulations on your call, its an awesome mission, you will love it. I got home Aug 2004, Regarding rules on emailing friends or family, pretty much all the rules are determined by your mission president (currently President Dixon), so you will just have to wait and see. as far as if email is accesible there, don't worry, there are tons of spots to email, in internet cafe's or even at supermarkets.
Forget most of your stereotypical views of mexico, i never saw anybody wearing a huge sombrero, and the cactuses dont look like the texas cactus, they are round looking bunches called nopales and they are actually really delicious you will eat them a lot, and the cactus fruit they produce are called "tunas" and they are very good too, tastes like watermelon/strawberry.
You will see a mix of all the modern conveinences, like skycrapers, Wal-Marts, cars and american media and movie advertisements on the street and you will also see on those same streets a whole lot of the more traditional aspects of mexican life and culture. You will be going to the biggest city in the world. and 80 percent of the mission is inside the city, so you may or may not leave the city to the surrounding rural areas but most likely you will make it out there at some point or another.
Don't expect to be burning hot like in a desert or something, mexico city is at a very high elevation and it actually can be very cold there, I didnt prepare for the cold when I left on my mission and was FREEZING my first few months because it was the winter months and in my first area, it got pretty cold, up in the mountains and around freezing at night and I didnt have a good sweater or jacket, (not that you will need a winter coat or anything). It can get pretty hot in the summer, but if you are from utah, its not that much worse than it gets here sometimes, except you will be walking around in the streets all day, and won't have an air conditioned house. Be sure to stay hydrated, which wont be a problem because there are "tiendas" or stores on almost every street, so you can grab something there at almost anytime, it is very conveinent. Remember, Lay's potato chips are called "Sabritas" down there, and Cheetos down there are delicious because they come in all different flavors of chili! I found that a good thing to take with you down there are some large resealable ziploc bags, you can keep you toothbrush and soaps and stuff inside and then when you have transfers you dont make a mess inside your suitcase and they are just pretty handy to have around.
The food may seem at first a little weird and you might not even like it at first. My first night in Mexico the president served us tacos in his house, tacos in Mexico City are traditionally some sort of beef or pork meat inside 2 small soft corn tortillas with salsa inside and onion and celantro. My first impression was that the soft corn tortillas tasted like dirt and I really did not enjoy my meal. But I absolutely learned to love the food they have down there now. If you don't like spicy food and can't stand it, you will get used to it. Be prepared to eat among all the meats and vegetables you already know of; pigskin "chicharron", cactus "nopales", cow foot "pata de res", pig brain "queso del puerco". Just keep an open mind and you might find you will learn to love these foods.
Your first day, the first time you actually set foot out in the streets, you won't know what you are doing or what anybody down there is saying, but don't worry nobody does, and you will have an experienced companion who will be looking out for you.
Don't worry too much right now about all the things down there, it will come with time, within a few short months you will know everything there is to know about the city, mexican culture, food and hopefully soon enough the language.

Anybody have any further information?
Got this from a family member of one of the missionaries remaining. Mission is in the central part of Mexico. Everything is hush-hush, as the missionaries are sworn to silence and can't even tell family what happened. Situation was so bad that they had to send a GA from COB to clean house. I assume the silence is a best attempt at keeping up appearances and maintaining the one true church image.
Isn't 17 an incredibly high number? In my 22 months overseas we had 3 go home early, all for health reasons |

| I think we need to do something to censor this website because stupid people are always getting on it and leaving horrible messages. People that actually want to stay in touch can't even do so because of all the idiots being vulgar and stuff. It is a mission website after all. Come on guys. |

| a todos los misioneros que sirven en la mision o exmisioneros somos miembros de la iglesia y por lo tanto constantemente tenemos la fortuna de convivir con muchos misioneros actualmente mi hijo sirve una mision de tiempo completo y le tocaron algunos compañeros desorientados que muchas veces creen q por ser hijos de lideres son seres superiores hnos quiero decirles que se guien por los 13 articulos de fe no critiquen recuerden la regla de oro afortunadamente tenemos el evangelio restaurado el padre conoce a cada uno de nosotros y nos da a cada uno lo que merecemos por lo tanto mas que poner palabras de ofensas hacia los misioneros que no quieren trabajar hay que motivarlos mas que ofender hay que ver las cosas de la forma que las miraria el señor jesucristo que el padre les de la sabiduria para comprender el proposito de la mision la mision es para progresar ustedes no los demas les amamos mucho atte. familia Bautista |

Hola mis queridos amigos en la mision mexico oeste, como han estado. quiero agradecerles por el buen trabajo que estan haciendo. gracias por olvidarse de si mismos para servir al Unico Dios. la mision es algo especial, aprovechenla, porque ya despues se siente algo triste al ver que la oportunidad termino. que siempre le pongan su confianza en el senor. y que no olviden la magnitud de su gran llamamiento.

| ok! si esta mal lo que elder medina hizo y yo no estoy como deacuerdo pero en lo personal yo creo que en vez de estar como atacandolo por q no pueden ser como de otra forma yo pienso que cuando uno ama lo que hace pues debe de hacerlo feliz y lo unico que digo es que: Elder Medina no deje que satanas llene su corazon de ira ok! es mejor como hablarlo con el Pres Dixon y quiza el tenga mejores soluciones por la inspiracion tan grande que el tiene y no por infinidad de cosas que nosotros podemos decirle... recuerde que usted esta en el mundo pero no es del mundo... y que algo que es muy cierto es que LA ACTITUD DETERMINA LA ALTITUD. |
