Stories: "Philadelphia" mission song
Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add Story
I heard of a pair of Colorado Denver Elders who had written songs and were using them in their missionary work. I got inspired and wrote my very first song about our mission, while serving in Vineland, New Jersey. Elder Randy Bell was my companion then, and encouraged me "you can do this too,"
Here are the words:
"Philadelphia, City of Brotherly Love
I'm here for two years
The place where our land began
many years and tears ago.
They said the dream was impossible:
a land of freedom for us all
Well that dream came true in Philadelphia
the red white and blue
my country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty
how God has loved you
So form'd a place where the gospel could grow
well can't you hear the angel's trumpet blow
Well we've come a long way and for such a short stay Philadelphia.
So please listen to us, hear the message that we've brought to share....
the hands of the Lord are knocking on your heart's door, and the time is drawing near
So won't you please lend us your listening hears and ears and of the truth don't fear...
Philadelphia, City of Brotherly Love, how I have loved you." |

LDS QUOTE: |
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
