Historias: suicide attempt/kidnapping

| It seems that the PPM or just the area is infamous for the devil worshipping. When President Tingey presided there we were not allowed out after dark on halloween. We seemed to find out by bad experience why this was. I believe it was Elder Jensen that I was serving with in Westfield, NY and one of our investigators decided to OD on some sort of pills and then try to stab her wrists with a tooth pick (go figure). So we rushed to the hospital to see what we could do. We were there till after 11PM that night. So when we returned we called the zone leaders and mission president to let them know we were all right. His only words after explaining the situation were "that's great Elder, get some sleep." We were both kind of put back at the response even with the late hour. A couple days later we found out the reason for the lack of attention to our call. An Elder that I have never met and don't even know the name of, was kidnapped, at gun point, from their apartment. This incident had happenned the same evening that our investigator had attempted suicide. I don't know the full story behind the kidnapping so I won't even attempt to elaborate. I do know that he was released a couple days later after a mission fast, and was then sent home because of the trauma. This incident could happen anywhere in our crazy world, it just happened to take place in the PPM while i was there. |
