Comments:
Elder Layton has been called to serve in the Peru Lima North Mission and will enter the MTC in Provo, Utah on June 25th, 2008. He has spent the last year at Heritage Halls at BYU Provo, so the Provo MTC will only be a short move down the street for him. Peru however, will seem like a world away.

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in Bend, Oregon, Sean loves the outdoors. He is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He has been a perenial honor band student and loves music. He plays several instruments, sings, composes and was admitted to the BYU school of music. His musical appreciation is broad.

His interests include sports and friends. He is very social and loves people. He is generally very easy to get along with and can scarcely imagine the wonderful miracles that are in store during the next two years. Sean has a strong testimony of the restored gospel. He is curious and intuitive.

He is one of five close friends known locally as the "C-5", meaning "Celestial Five". This was not a pompous thing, but a group of five young men who held themselves to high standards and desired to live their lives in certain ways. Sean will be the fifth of the five young men to leave on missions, all within a very short period of time. One is now serving in Australia, and one in Mexico. The other two leave two weeks (to Brazil) and one week (Rosario, Argentina) before Sean, respectively. It has been amazing to see them grow up together, and now to prepare to serve concurrently, but apart from each other.

Sean has served as an assistant ward clerk, gospel doctrine instructor, home teacher and family home evening father while at BYU. He has also served in various capacities as a young man in his Aaronic Priesthood Quorums. He is the eldest of four children, with two brothers and one sister.
