Just in Time 19 Nov 2003
As I was serving as a misionary my companion and I were teaching a family the discussions, when the mother of this family refered us to her parents. Her father was very sick and she wanted us to give him a blessing. She had see the power of the preisthood work earlier on a blessing of their 2 year old daugter. When my companion and I first met the elderly gentleman it was a shocking experience. he was bleeding constantly from his nose and was unable to move much, he was consistantly caughing and from our understanding had been this way for several months. after a short visit we asked him if he would like to have a blessing and explained to him about a blessing and how it works. we then proceded giving this elderly 84 year old man a blessing. upon leaving their home my companion said "he needs to get baptised because he doesn't have much time left." We returned back to this families home a few days later and the femily was extatic, the elderly gentleman was healed, he moved around alot better, he wasn't coughing or bleeding from his nose. We began teaching him the discusions and his improved helth enabled him to attend church meetings. It took a few months and he decided to get baptised. He said "gloria a Dios" as he was entering the water and was in tears of joy as he was leaving the font. I had my transfer shortly following that occasion, and in a few months was going to be finishing my mission. upon leaving the mission I had learned that this brother was on his death bed. But it was comforting to know that the lord sent us to him just in time, and that through his blessing restored health to this great brother to allow him to recieve his own ordinance of baptism. I know the lord is watching over his children and puts those souls in our pathway at the right time of our life to be able to guide them to eaternal salvation.
