Here's a picture of my mom and I the day after my release, in Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur. It's where my grandfather was born. My mother met for the first time her two aunts and cousins that live there. I had the opportunity to speak the little Ilocano I knew to them. They were very impressed. We gathered some great family history stories about my great grandfather and presented them with a family pedigree chart. I loved my day with my family there and it broke my heart to leave them. It's one thing to leave an investigator, but it is a completely different experience leaving family behind. I pray for them and plan to visit them again one day... |
