Jones (Deceased) (1977 - 1980) | Served: 1977 - 1979 | Language(s) spoken:English | Areas Served: Tagoom, Davao, Orequeta, Zambuanga, Panabo, Degos | Your Occupation: HVAC Contractor | Spouse: Robin Whitaker | Comments: Yes, I am the missionary who got bolo the knife cut across the left jaw in November 1977 in Davao City. After 85 stiches and a week in the hospital I was back tracting and teaching the remaing 20 months of my mission. After returning home Sept 1979 to Orland CA I attended and wrestled at a local college one year. I worked on the oil rigs in Wyoming a year and did some more college and became a dental lab tech. The 1982 recession forced me to leave dental lab work and I got married and joined as enlisted in the Airforce. With the Airforce I served 5 years at Offate AFB Omaha NE, 2 years at Beale AFB near Sacramento CA, and 2 years at Hickem AFB HI. I took seperation money following the gulf War in 1991 and I became a savillian again and moved to Pleasant Grove Utah with my My and SIX kids (Robin and I were busy). I worked installing heating and A/C systems all over Utah county. In 1994 I joined the sheetmetal workers union in Utah and when things got slow in 1996 the Union found me work in Portland Oregon with several Microchip plants being built. We moved the family to Portland and in 1998 I started my own business as a licensed and bonded HVAC mechanical contractor, and continue that work today. My oldest child and only son, Ryan 25, served a mission in Brazil and was married in the Salt Lake Temple May 5, 2007 and is finishing a degree at BYU Provo in industrial design. Of my 5 beautifull daughters Rebecca is engaged to be married in the Portland Temple this September 19, 2009. If you remember me give me a call any time and lets catch up 503-708-6251. May 16, 2009 I attended a reunion with 28 others for Pres. Jones, who is 96, in Seattle WA where he lives with his new wife. After 30 years to see Pres. Jones and fellow missionarys, sharing stories and pictures and updates and testimonies. It was an emotional wonderful event, of which we hope to do again next year with lots more people and if Pres. Jones is healthy and willing again. |
