old schooler 05 Apr 2004
Aloha Ilagan alumnus!
Its been awhile since I visited this place. I see Bates and Hernandez are still the regulars. Glad I got to know you guys in the mish, otherwise I'd think you two were just plain madaldal and had nothing better to do with their time. Anyways, life is great here in Hawaii, but the cost of living is ridiculous. Average price for a 3 bedroom town house is almost 400G!
I saw the picture of the recent reunion and only recognized Hiatt and Quentin. Who are all the other dudes?
Ok, its time to go, just thought I'd drop a "howzit" to the old schoolers of the mish.
PS: Who is this Chet guy trying to be all holier than thou? Ania metten?

MISSION REUNION PICTURE 03 Apr 2004
Hey all, I have posted two pictures on my website. I don't know how well they turned out. I will also email a copy of the picture to Joel Longhurst & Matt Blake the administrators of this site. The quality of these pictures are good, but on my site, they are not the best.

If you want a original emailed to you, please email me: shiatt@wasatchmortgage.com

Anyway, there are two sizes, depending on your internet connection you may want to download a larger or smaller size. It was good to see everyone!

Friday Night 30 Mar 2004
I have had a couple of emails asking about Friday night. It is going to be a very laid back night. Dress casual, I'm talking jeans. If you feel the need to dress up that's fine too. If you have kids let them wear something that they can run around in and play with the other kids. Again, lets keep it very casual.

Missionary Moment! 30 Mar 2004
If you look at my message posted on the 18th of March, you will see a point that I stated. I spoke of the "Passion of Christ" and how it will be the means of opening the doors of missionary work...Well, here is an example:

My uncle is the mission president of the Texas San Antonio Mission. Recently a woman called their missionaries and asked for them to stop by. She had been touched by the spirit and was prompted to call them. She was taught all of the discussions, and was later baptized and confirmed a member of the church.

Why was she prompted to call the missionaries? She had gone to see "The Passion of Christ," which she thoroughly enjoyed. And while she viewed the film a feeling came over her that she had never felt before... She felt in her heart as she watched the film that Jesus Christ really did suffer and die for her. Well, after viewing the film she was prompted several times to contact missionaries from our church because she knew of our strong belief in Jesus Christ. She finally called them and was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, and she joined the church.

Are you guys now going to bash this lady's experience, which has led her to follow Christ and be baptized into the church? This film is what instilled in her a testimony of Jesus Christ, that He was real, and that He really did suffer for all of us. How did you gain a testimony of Christ? That would be pretty sad for someone to bash that experience, wouldn't it?!!!

The Passion of Christ surely promotes a belief in Christ and it is opening up the hearts of many for the spirit to testify of Jesus Christ.

Moroni 7

12 Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God;

13 But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.

16 For behold, the Spirit of Chirst is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to belive in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

CASE CLOSED!

Enough? Enough!!! 30 Mar 2004
Someone asked a question about when the last time was that we read the scriptures about Christ's life. That is a good question on a personal level...but how many of us have seen The Testaments, or the Lamb of God? I guess that those two films as well as many others would be pointless if it was the case. But they do come from the scriptures, and the spirit testifies of the truth of their content.

I think that most of us have had enough with all of the pointless comments in attempt to bash "The Passion of Christ." Anyone agree? Keep the self-righteousness on the down-low!

I'm gonna watch the Passion of Christ 24 Mar 2004
Though I have heard the Passion of Christ to be violent, it may be that violent when Christ experienced it. Also, though the focus of the movie is the physical suffering of Christ than his spiritual suffering, we have to remember that the focus of the director was the physical suffering.

Great Message Jeff 22 Mar 2004
I agree with Jeff, the scriptures and the Holy Ghost are the best way to understand what Jesus went throught and why he did it. When was the last time we read the New and Old testament all there way through?

passion 21 Mar 2004
We all know the ending to the movie do you really need to go see it. If you don't remember what happens then read your scriptures. Spend the 2.5 hours that the movie takes reading about it and studying it and you will not have to go see it. And no one will have to fight about it in here.

Some Great Food 20 Mar 2004
Many alumni registered on this site are aware of Boondocks in Salt Lake City. This is a GREAT place to get some great Filipino food. The man who runs it is a Filipino and has some great dishes. Anyway, if you find yourself in Salt Lake and are looking for some great Filipino food then check out Boondocks! I believe it is on 5th south just south of the new library, kitty-corner to the park. Plates run about $7-9 and they even make Halo-halos. They usually do a Filipino lunch all-you-can-eat buffet every third Sat of the month. Boondocks is open everyday for lunch and Thurs, Fri & Sat for dinner. Try it some time.
