Ilagan mission safety 04 Dec 2003
I would add to Bates's comments that the Ilagan mission is about as far away from the "trouble" in the Philippines as you can get. Most of the more violent agitators in the Philippines are in the southern part of the country, while Ilagan mission is in the far north. Your brother will be working with a lot of kind, gentle, and humble people. He has nothing to fear from them. In addition, I know the mission president is very protective of his missionaries! Most importantly, your brother will be in the Lord's care. You have nothing to worry about.

About the 'safeness' of the Ilagan Mission 30 Nov 2003
Hi there,
Well, I'm pleased to hear that another lucky person is being assigned to such a great mission. I, personally, feel that the Ilagan mission is one of the best places to be assigned within the Philippines Archipelago. I served in the Ilagan Mission from 1997-1999. From my experience, you should put your worries aside. The Ilagan mission is quite safe, especially for LDS missionaries. Mail and packages will arrive, just mark them inconspicuously and seal them well. During the Holiday season, Christmas, packages might take longer to arrive, so it's best to send them slightly earlier than normal.
Your brother has nothing to fear serving in the Ilagan mission, or in the Philippines. I returned after my mission to live in the Philippines for a couple more years. I spent time in the provinces of Cagayan and in a couple cities of Metro Manila.
Also, whether or not you belive as your brother does, I should think it wise to place your faith in the Lord's ability to protect those who serve Him faithfully. Fear not, your brother will be fine. Pray for him, send him many letters and packages and he will have a happy, fulfilling time serving in the Ilagan mission. I know I did.

My brother will be send in Ilagan mission... 24 Nov 2003
I reveived the message below from somebody through the mission web page comments section. She was worried about thier brother who will be going to our mission. I wrote a response to her, but I thought she might want to get more than one person's views.

Coolness 18 Oct 2003
This board is cool. Saying hi to all my friends. Christmas is getting close. Can you feel it? A year is coming to a close. Can you feel it? A new year is about to begin. I love that feeling. How many short days remain before another year begins? Time flies. Enjoy it.

I'm fine with this message board, it works just as well as the old one, without the porn, and now you always know who is saying what.... honestly I couldn't figure out who was posting some of those messages before, cause I don't know the nicknames.
By the way, my wife is going home to the philippines on sunday for a visit.

[Re] The old message board? 09 Oct 2003
If you want to read messages from the old message board, you can find a link to the old website under the links section.

If it turns out that people don't like this message board we could switch back to the old message board or find another solution. In the past, we had a couple of problems with someone posting links to pron sites. One nice thing about this one is that you need to be registered to post.

Impressive new website 07 Oct 2003
I'd like to say that I'm very impressed with this new website.
I'd like to remind the webmasters that President Edgardo Paat would be released next year, and he has not been acknowledge in this website as a president of the mission.
Thank you very much.
