I received this message in a letter from Sister Ashby this week regarding Moldova for your information. Anyone interested in Sister Ashby's updates regarding the mission and their experiences can log onto her blog site at http://www.light-stones.blogspot.com
Our Humanitarian couple, the Thomas's, are moving to Buch tomorrow. Moldova passed a new law that says a foreigner can only be in the country 3 months. The Thomas's current visa expired 3 weeks ago and we found out the government officials are going door to door to find and kick out illegals! That government there is a BIG PAIN! We probably won't have couples in Moldova now, not to mention young missionaries! It is very stressful. The courts are doing everything they can to stop us. Our other Moldova couple, the Cannons, went home two weeks ago as their mission ended. The Thomas' will serve here until they leave in December. The church assigned us a new Humanitarian couple that we got papers for but now we think they will change their assignment and we are sad about that.
However, the work is going forth and we are a little ahead of our goal for baptisms this year. Our missionaries are wonderful and I "mourn" every time we lose a group. I get so attached to them! This being mission mom is hard work.....I know Sister Hansen understands what I am going through!
