Hi dear Siberian missionaries,

I must tell the truth—if you didn’t or couldn’t make it to the June missionary reunion you missed out on a very special experience. In all I counted about 75 people in attendance. We visited, spoke and ate simply delicious food—thanks to Elder and Sister Lawson and helpers. Elder Anson was the main drive for pulling this one off and we all appreciate the time and effort put into it. Some came from very long distances to be there. Thanks.

At the end of the meeting I announced our plans to make good on a Siberian promise of about 11 years ago. Elder Lindsay called me not long ago and reminded me that it is now time to deliver on the promise. For all Siberian missionaries and their spouses were planning an 11 day reunion in Jerusalem, Israel. In that Carol and I will be in China for a year we were planning the reunion for the month of late September in 2010. Everyone was enthused, and so many showed a definite desire to come. STOP!!!

All was well until yesterday. I received a personal phone call that will not allow me to make good on the promise –at least for another couple of years. SO, here is the new revised plan. Let’s begin saving for a Siberian missionary reunion in Jerusalem, Israel in the spring or fall of 2012. If prices hold reasonable we should be able to do it for around $3300 a person (or $6600 a couple). It would be for about 11 days and include everything you have longed to do in Israel. I have organized and conducted at least 30 tour groups and believe me, I will make it worth your time and money.

Don’t just dream of coming—BEGIN NOW AND START SAVING FOR A PILGRAMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND. We are only inviting missionaries from our mission plus spouses. If we get too many wanting to come then I will recruit my brother David to help me –he and his family lived for over 20 years in Jerusalem.

Sorry for the false alarm, but in the end, it will give some a little more time to come up with the money.

Sister Galbraith and I love you dear missionaries and would love to see and be with you again. May the Lord be with you and may He strengthen us all in His service.

Love,

John and Carol Galbraith

Hello to all, we will be holding a mission reunion for all missionaries who served in the Russia, Novosibirsk Mission under President Sherwood and or President Galbraith. This is an email to get RSVP's from those who can attend. The RSVP's will determine what venue we hold it.

The reunion will be held the evening of Saturday, June 13th in Salt Lake City, Utah. Both President Sherwood and President Galbraith will be in attendance. It has been years since we have had a specific reunion of our years so I am hoping it will be a lot of fun.

This will be an adults only event except of infants who are not yet able to be away from his / her mother. For those traveling from out of the state, who have no family or friends in the area to provide baby-sitting for a few hours, please send me an email and we can work something out with providing baby-sitting.

The details of the specific location and time will come after we receive your RSVP. Please reply to this email or call me at (801) 756-5219. I would like to get your RSVP by Sunday, May 3rd. However, the sooner the better so please, if you can RSVP as soon as possible. I will immediately verify each RSVP so that you know it was received.

We are also are putting together a DVD of our mission (old photos with music). Whether you can attend the reunion or not, and would like to have your photos in the DVD, please send me a few (3-5) mission photographs of your choice for the DVD. send them either through email (if they have been scanned) or by snail mail to me at:
David Anson
407 Mountainville Drive
Alpine, Utah 84004

The photos will of course be returned to you.

Looking forward to seeing everybody.

Thanks,
David Anson
PS. It is difficult to track down everybody so you might be getting this email on a couple of different email addresses or twice to the same email address or even through facebook. Please understand. Please forward this to other missionaries with whom you have contact. It would be much appreciated.

Dear "Omsk has beens" and all others!

This is Victor Ermolaev, a young adult from Omsk, who in 1999 moved to the US to attend Utah State. I fell in love with a beautiful girl Jennifer from Seattle, WA, got married and we decided to stay in America. We live in Houston, TX now and have two cute girls: Alexandra, 2.5 y/o and Elizabeth - 10 months.

A couple of days ago President Vladimir Fatiyanov called and informed me that he is in Salt Lake City, visiting his daughter Anya, through April 25th. He is a counselor in the district presidency in Omsk. His family joined the church there in 1997. Anya was married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 14th to Richard Wright and is now living in Salt Lake City, near the University of Utah.

While Anya speaks excellent English, Vladimir only speaks Russian. Richard has taken Vladimir to Southern Utah and around as much as he could, but he is now very busy with school and work and so I am looking for someone in the Salt Lake area who would be able to help with transportation. Vladimir would like to go to the Temple as much as possible while he is here but the Salt Lake Temple doesn't do foreign language sessions so he needs a ride to one of the other temples in the area.

If any of you are interested in helping with this or getting in touch with Vladimir while he is here, please call and speak with me or my wife at 281..913..4641.

Thank you
Victor Ermolaev

An older brother (Tim 3) who also likes to hold him.

I am currently working as a High School Math teacher in Royal City Washington. Becky is continuing her education. All is well here. Anyone wishing to talk, you are welcome.

Subject: Just got back from Omsk

Hello to all, This is Dave Anson. Just a quick note. I recently returned from vacation in Russia. I was in Moscow, St. Pete and Omsk (MAN HAVE THINGS CHANGED OVER THERE). I only had a couple of days in Omsk, but was able to visit with some old friends and wish I could have visited with more. I have written about this before, particularly after my last trip to Novosibirsk and Omsk seven years ago; former missionaries need to write the members. Whatever home addresses or email addresses you have, send a Christmas card at least. As a general rule, very few and I mean VERY few members of the church are receiving any kind of communication with their old missionaries. Average attendance in a branch in Omsk (and there are three branches) is around 40 people. That should tell you something of what the activity rate is.

Anyway, write to the members no matter how long it has been. Send a Christmas card. It really would mean a lot to them (and you).

Take Care,
Dave Anson

Here are some imformation about life in Germany. I studied English and Russian in Magdeburg for 6 years and we now have 2 wonderful sons, Phileas and Jaromé(5 and 7 years old) and one cute little daughter (3/4 year old).
I so sad that Amerika is so far away, so its not possible for me to come to mission reunions. Well, maybe one day.
I hope that you are all allright and sure you are thinking about our time in Russia as much as I do.

Greetings mission alumns!

While reminiscing about the old days of Novosibirsk (without cell phones and lines of credit) I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy Zodiak chocolate bars!

Do you remember the Chocolate bar made with fruit flavored Yogurt and that cost about a dollar? It came in six flavors and twelve different wrappers that corresponded to each sign of the zodiac.

Please, if you can help me get a chocolate fix, email me at Stoney@inbox.com. (I would love some Zuko too, but it is illegal to sell it in North America. I would accept a donation!).

Other than craving mission food, I am doing well. I live in Henderson, Nevada and for the first great milestone in my professional career, I just paid off my student loans. I enjoy my work and have found the desert to be hot, but still a great place to live. If you are coming through Vegas, let me know if I can help you with anything.

Be faithful, and your life will be fruitful.

It is with great sadness that we heard news of Sister LeAnn Neuenschwander's recent death. The following obituary was taken from the Deseret News today.

LeAnn Clement Neuenschwander 1941 ~ 2007 BOUNTIFUL -

LeAnn Clement Neuenschwander, a woman of immense wit, wisdom, and uncommon common sense, succumbed to cancer July 13, 2007. She was born February 11, 1941 in Payson, Utah to George Leland and Catherine Mendenhall Clement. LeAnn grew up in Washington Terrace, Utah and was educated in Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School. She also completed a degree in cosmetology at Weber College. LeAnn married Dennis B. Neuenschwander June 13, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. This union was blessed with four sons, Jeffery, Michael, Bradley, and Stephen; and 11 grandchildren. Her devotion to family and her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ framed her life. LeAnn was a true homemaker. Whether living abroad or at home, she always created a home of beauty that was both a spiritual center and an anchor for her family. Her positive attitude and cheery outlook, even in the most difficult of circumstances, have found a home in the lives of her children. LeAnn served in many church callings and with her husband completed church assignments at home and across the world, including Frankfurt, Germany; Vienna, Austria; and most recently, Moscow, Russia. She touched, for good, the lives of innumerable missionaries and church members in many lands. To the end of her life she expressed gratitude for the Lord's kindness in permitting her to participate in the establishment of the church in Eastern Europe. Among her most cherished memories were the numerous opportunities to meet with the sisters, to teach them the gospel and introduce them to the auxiliary work of the church. Her honesty and candid nature endeared them to her. Many are the fruits of a good and generous life. In both time and eternity these fruits will be LeAnn's to enjoy. There will be a public viewing at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, in Bountiful, Utah from 6-8:30 p.m. Monday, 16 July. Funeral services will commence at 11 a.m. in the Stone Creek Ward chapel, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah, Tuesday, 17 July. There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Centerville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would be pleased if generous donations were made to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in LeAnn's name. Published in the Deseret News from 7/15/2007 - 7/16/2007.
