I graduated from BYU in 2005 in Russian and International Development. I'm currently finishing up my master's degree at Indiana University in Central Eurasian Studies, with a speciality in Moscow-Bukhara relations in the seventeenth century.
I've been really lucky to travel back to the Russian-speaking world. I went to Kiev for four months as an intern for the Center for Religious Information and Fredoom (CeRIF) and to St. Petersburg on an ORCA grant to study the Orthodox Church.
I also feel very fortuante to have taught Russian at the Senior MTC--I got to teach President and Sister Sandberg, as well as countless other senior couples. They are wonderful and taught me many invalauble lessons.
I also got to use my Russian skills when I interned with the United States Civilian Research Development Foundation in DC, in the nuclear non-proliferation department, focusing on projects in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
I married Benjamin Sweeny in Dec. 2006. He is a freelance photographer and web designer. We have one child, Maria Seraphima. She is a joy! Work, school and parenthood keep me very busy, but I find time to remember all the wonderful people and experiences I had on my mission.
Love,
Jenny (Johnson) Sweeny |
