Chad was in the MTC from July 24 to August 12, 2002. He enjoyed starting his mission even though it was difficult to be in classes all day.
When he left the MTC, he flew to Los Angeles, California and then to London, England and arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa August 14, 2002.
He first served in Kimberly with Elder Reynolds from Wales, Great Britain. Things were good for him. He liked to drive even if it was on the other side of the road.
He had another companion, Elder Butler from Orangeville, for a short time. Next was Elder Holdaway from Idaho. who taught Elder Mabey a lot about missionary work. He was transferred, the first time, to Pretoria the week before Christmas and was comps with Elder Tippetts from Wyoming. The first of Feb 2003, Elder Mabey became a district leader and is serving with Elder Mashanganyika from Zimbabwe. They remain in Pretoria. |
