| Comentarios: Jon Martinson. Served under President Joseph Childers, 1972--74. I arrived in Tahiti in March 1972. After spending about 8 weeks on Tahiti, I sailed on the Taporo II to Ra'iatea, then boarded Papa Imiura's boat for Tahaa. There I was christened "Maratini" and taught the beautiful language of Tahaa (as in "Eaha kera mea?") by the Teriipaia's, the Taari's the Tamehau's and many others. I left Tahaa about 6 months later and spent another 7 months in Uturoa. Thirteen months in paradise. After my mission, I began college at CCH (now BYU-Hawaii), where I met a beautiful 18-year old Tahitian named Hinano Mahuru (Natai Mahuru's prettiest daughter). We were married 6 months later. We moved back to the mainland, where I attended BYU-Provo, and taught at the MTC and helped Jim Wilson with his definitive Tahitian MTC Manual.
