It is more than a little disconcerting to discover the number of former Taiwan missionaries that, for however long a time, have left the church. It is pleasing to find that a few have found their way back. Yet, I find myself wishing that the mission had followed the example of Julius Metts (we went slowly and got in every door in PanChiao), rather than the "super week" acronym pumping door runners that took power at that time. Somehow, I think it was a pathetic waste of time and energy. How much damage did we do in treating people like cattle? Perhaps, God will forgive us our follies. Hopefully, current missionaries have repaired the damage we did there. |
