Three sons--served in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan, but none quite made it to Taiwan. One daughter, too young for a mission yet. My wife and daugter and I were able to attend some wonderful events at the Jubilee celebration. We first traveled with a great group of mostly returned Taiwan/Hong Kong missionaries, including Presidents Hardy and Stamps, to China (Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Guilin) and Hong Kong for two weeks. The sights were great and there are great changes in China from the last time I was there. We saw the places where China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were dedicated for missionary work, and we were able to attend Temple sessions in Hong Kong and Taipei. Spending a week in Taiwan, with dedication re-enactment celebration, meals, talent show, fireside, Church services and, best of all, visits with members, was a highlight to last many years. We were able to visit all areas I served in, so my family now knows what I am talking about when I wax nostalgic about the best missionfield in the world. I'm ready to go again!! |
