2003 Christmas Newsletter 07 Jan 2004
Dear Fellow Missionaries, Christmas Day 2003

Sitting on our front porch in front of our large double doors is old fashion two-wheeled wire shopping cart that we picked up for a few dollars at a garage sale or antique shop a few years ago. Inside this cart we have placed a few fake gifts and a small Christmas tree. It seems that we have used this door decoration since we purchased the cart. On a cold day last winter as I was stopped at a traffic light in the center of town I saw a woman dressed in an old overcoat and tennis shoes pushing an old fashion two wheeled cart very similar to ours across the street in front of me. It looked as if she had every earthly possession piled into that cart. It made me think of how blessed I was.

We want to wish all of you a very happy Christmas and two happy new years (Chinese and otherwise). This has been a very traveled year for us. We spent last Christmas off the coast of Peru viewing some very interesting island sea animals. This was part of a long trip that took us from Florida to Mexico then to Costa Rica and through the Panama Canal on down the western coast of South America with longer stops in Peru and Chile. This was very interesting and educational. We had never visited any of these areas. One of the very interesting things was seeing how strong the church is in South America. There are small towns with two or three chapels and a larger stake center. Also it was interesting to see the high Andes area of Cusco, Machu Pichu, and on to Lake Titicaca. We experienced several trips to visit our family over the year. Sister Harris’ father had been ill, and he died in late July, having lived a long and very wonderful life. Our son Jonathan and his family moved during the year to Denver Colorado. This gave us excuse to visit a new direction.

We held two reunions that some of you attended in April and October. The crowd has become the later missionaries for the most part. Many of you have moved on in your lives and are not in the Provo/Salt Lake area. We have so enjoyed your Christmas letters and E-mails to let us know of your well-being. Yes many of you have graduated, have good jobs, have spouses, are purchasing homes and filling them with cute little children that you send us computer pictures of. We enjoy those E-mails so much so please include us any time you write. We plan to hold the next mission reunion in October 2005; this will be the fifth anniversary of our return from Taiwan. We look forward to this time.

Sister Harris and I continue to work in the Los Angeles Temple one week each month. We treat this like a spiritual vacation from the cares of the world. We hope all is well for you and your family. We continue to enjoy contact and letters from you so until we see or hear from you; we send our Love and good wishes.

President Michael G. Harris and LindaGay Harris

P.S. Please do keep connected to this web site, Sister Harris and I are not too computer friendly and we want to use this way to communicate with you. We have many of your E-mail addresses, but you do change them from time to time. You can always get us at mghandlgh@hotmail.com or 1707 Loma Drive Camarillo CA 93010, or 805-482-0855.
