My son is currently serving in the McAllen Texas Spanish Speaking Mission. He arrived in the field on April 30th and his first assignment is with Elder Nathan Spence in McAllen. Brendan's mother is from Cuba and he has grown up in a home with her parents. He spoke spanish as his first language, but gave it up when he started public school.
His growth through the MTC and assignment in the field have been a great blessing for our family. We feel he truly fits the description of the "raised bar missionary".
His mother, Maria, converted to the true gospel while attending BYU in November 1978 along with her parents. They served a mission in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic while Maria was pregnant with Brendan.
We know that Brendan's skills and spirit will benefit the Lord's children in this mission as much as their spiritual influence will help hime to become stronger, more devoted, and dedicated to service in the kingdom. |
