Road Shows 19 Jul 2006
I wonder if anyone can help me sort out a memory. I was under the impression that I had been taken to church by some LDS people back in 1970 or there abouts. We went into a hotel and sat in a room with many chairs set up in rows. In front was a stage of sorts and the members performed several acts. One was a story about a soldier returning home and trying to call his folks. He keeps getting a busy signal, in fact, I think the name of the skit was "the busy signal". The soldier was injured in the war and was afraid he would be a burden on his family. I also remember one man that played the piano. It seems I was told that he had written the lyrics to "Monday, Monday." Anyway, there was a family that I hardly knew that took me there. I have always wondered if anyone else remembers this event. 40th Anniversary Tour Nearing Deadline - Dpm 07 Jul 2006
Hi Everyone,

Time is growing short if you like to join us for the 40th Anniversary of the Dedication of Thailand Missionary Work Package Tour (This awkard title brought to courtesy of Ex Mission Prez Martin Slater who chided me to "get it right!" In any case, the latest estimate from Khun Wisan is that he expects anywhere from 800 - 1000 Thai members to join in the activities October 20 - 22 in Bangkok. This will be a once in a lifetime experience for those who are able to come.

If you want to show your spouse what it was all about or simply want to relive a few memories, it is extremely important that you get your reservation forms in AS SOON AS POSSIBLE in order to guarantee your space. Although reservations will taken after the deadline, no guarantee of space available can be given.

If you're like me your probably waiting for the last minute to send in your cash for the deposit. Also, if you're looking for a roommate to help share expenses, they're a couple of people who are willing to share a room. Contact me or Michele at IG Travel to set it up. If this all new to you, then please email me and I'll be happy to send you all the details regarding the package. Good luck and hope you help support this worthy activity. The presence of a significant number of RM's will certainly add to the event and you'll have a great time as well.

I need help!! 02 Jul 2006
Hello everyone! I was hoping that some of you would be willing to help me with this... a friend I've known for years is going to Thailand in September to make a documentary film, and has sent me this e-mail:

Hi everyone,

I am going to Thailand to shoot a documentary from Sept 1st to Sept. 17th. I
will be shooting a documentary about children in high-risk situations in
Bangkok and mainly about the 'streetside railway police teachers project'.
The project is aimed at offering education services to homeless children as
a way of reducing the crime rate and child exploitation by channeling
children to more constructive activities and helping them to return to
mainstream society. The program includes a non-formal education (basic
reading, writing, numeracy and computer skills) as well as life skills and
drug education. The volunteer police officers teach in two abandoned railway
cars in a siding adjacent to the station, one railway car is used as a
classroom while the other houses a small library. Recently, a third railway
car was added to provide optional sleeping quarters for the children.

When I talked to the officers last April, they asked for food and children
clothing (mainly from age 3 to 18 years old). I cannot bring food (too
heavy) but I plan on buying food in Bangkok. I am looking for any kind of
clothes that I can bring over there...If you have some please contact me.

Thank you
Barbara Grandvoinet

My friend lives in San Francisco, CA. If you are in that area, you could possibly just drop some clothes off at her house. Otherwise, I will be happy to arrange something or provide you with more details. Either way, please contact me if you are interested in helping. My e-mail address is below. I believe that this is a very good cause and a great way to help the people of Thailand who I know we all love so much. Thanks a ton!

My e-mail address is: missysmilea@gmail.com

President Hansen Homecoming 28 Jun 2006
The following information was provided to me by Ben Crowder:

Everyone,

President and Sister Hansen's "homecoming" (which term we'll use because
it's shorter than the alternatives) will be on Sunday, July 9, at 1:00 p.m.
It's at 1535 Creek Rd., Sandy.

They'd like to have all the missionaries who come to sing Called to Serve in
Thai (both verses). So we can have a rough idea of how many people to
expect, please reply to this e-mail if you're planning on coming. (If you'd
really rather not sing but still want to come, just say so.)

Here are Sister Hansen's directions to the chapel:

"If you're coming from the Provo area, come towards SLC on the freeway and
take the Belt Route (I-215 E.) and exit South at Union Park Ave. Go south
until you see a Wal-Mart on the west side of the road. There's a stoplight
just as you pass the Wal-Mart. Turn east at the light, wind on the road a
bit, and the church is about 7 blocks east on the left (north) side of the
street. (It's a dark building -- brownish/reddish brick.)"

And here's a map via Google:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1535+Creek+Rd,+sandy,+ut&om=1

After the homecoming (I'm waiting for a reply on whether that means 2:00 or
4:00), they'd like to invite everyone to come to their house to visit. It's
at 7865 S. Tynedale Ct., and the directions are here: "One street to the
east of the Church on the north side -- named Keswick. Turn Left on Keswick
and Tynedale is the first circle on your right."

And here's a map:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=7865+S.+Tynedale+Ct,+sandy,+ut&om=1

In summary,

Homecoming
When: 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2006
Where: 1535 E. Creek Rd., Sandy

Open House
When: after the homecoming
Where: 7865 S. Tynedale Ct., Sandy
