| Gennady Nikolaevich Podvodov and Tatyana Anatolyevna Bakovskaya Podvodov have been called to be mission parents to the St.Petersburg Mission. He is the first mission president to be called from the Donetsk area. For the full article and some pictures, go to www.daveandsuemcqueen.blogspot.com We were able to meet the Podvodov's at Welfare Square where there was much hugging and crying. The missionaires who baptized this couple have a great deal to be thankful for because they brought such a wonderful couple into the church. I would encourage whomever baptized them to tell us about their teaching them and if anyone else has a story please publish it. I remember one December 1999 evening, in our apartment when the leaders of the Donetsk district, President Podvodov was one of the counselors, met to discuss the formation of the first Donetsk Stake. We had been led to believe that a Donetsk Stake would be forth coming. We hovered over a map and began drawing out the boundaries. It was a very exciting time and we really thought the Stake would come shortly but the requirements changed in the next few weeks and the Stake planning was postponed. We can't think of an event in our three years in Donetsk that the Podvodov's did not come to. They are just a rock solid couple. We must keep them in our prayers. Love, McQueens | |
