David Craig Hoopes, 62, Moraga Ward, Oakland California Stake, called as president of the Caracas Venezuela Temple, succeeding President R. Raymond Barnes. His wife, Diane Tuttle Hoopes, will serve as temple matron. President Hoopes, a temple sealer, is a former president of the Chile Santiago South Mission, mission president's counselor, regional welfare agent, bishop and counselor. He is a retired financial consultant with Merrill Lynch and was special assistant to the President at the White House, 1971-77. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Lorenzo Neville and Stella Sorensen Hoopes.

Sister Hoopes, a temple ordinance worker, served with her husband while he was mission president, and is a former stake and ward Young Women president, stake and ward Primary president, gospel doctrine teacher and ward Relief Society president's counselor. She was born in Rigby, Idaho, to Albert Theodore and Marne Whitaker Tuttle.
