Hi Elders and Sisters,
I'm Elder Torres from Mexico, called to serve in the WDCS Mission. I was informed that I need a bike there and I got some info with an envelop from Pres. Bretzing (current).
The prices are a little high for me right now. Therefore I want to get in contact with returning missionaries who also used a bike and who are willing to sell it at a decent price.
I get into the MTC on april 12th and might get out around the beginnings of or halfway through May. Anyone who is returning home around that date or before and wants to sell a bike at a decent price, please contact me.
Alternatively, ex-missionaries who can tell me about stores/dealers in the area where I can buy good bikes at good prices (100-200usd) would be of help.
Thanking beforehand and wishing you all a great time in your mission, lots of baptisms and patience + perseverance for the difficult times.
Elder Torres.

The following obituary was posted for Elder Ryan Cassidy, who server in the mission from 1991-93, on the Richfield (Utah) Reaper's website, www.richfieldreaper.com:
Ryan Michael Cassidy, 31, returned home to his Heavenly Father, Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. He was born in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 13, 1972, to Danny Michael and Sharon Linnell Cassidy.
He grew up and attended school in Yucaipa, Calif. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington, D.C. South Mission.
He attended Utah Valley State College where he met his beloved wife Kristin Michelle Dunn. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS temple, Aug. 5, 1994.
Ryan loved his family and his church and everyone he met. The loves of his life were their four precious children; Nicole, 7; Gavin, 4; Dylan, 2; and Kendyl, 1. Ryan was a very "hands on" dad. He left no doubt of the love and devotion he felt for his children.
He enjoyed his sales job at LinCare and was in turn enjoyed by all he worked with and served. His gift was making everyone in his presence feel special.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Kristin, and children, Nicole, Gavin, Dylan and Kendyl, all Richfield; parents, Danny and Sharon Cassidy, Perry; three sisters, Erin (Brent) Anton, Yucaipa, Calif., Shannon (Craig) Martin, Salt Lake City, Kendra (David) Thomson, Greenville, N.C.; father and mother-in-law, Greg and Ilene Dunn, Richfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg (Julie) Dunn, Richfield, Sam (Cassie) Dunn, Eagle Mountain, Kimberly (Tyler) Hawkins, Eagle Mountain, Kasi (Justin) Anstine, Orem; many nieces and nephews, and many family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m., in the Richfield LDS 9th ward, 159 North 400 West, where a viewing will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
Funeral directors, Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Wells Fargo Bank in Richfield in care of the Cassidy children.

I am getting married December 30 in the St. George Temple. I am marrying Rachelle Strong. She is such a special girl. I want to thank Elder Travis Rich for inviting me to write her a letter a few months before I returned home. Rachelle and Travis are cousins and Travis would write her letters telling her nice things about me. I met her when I returned home and although I wasn't much to look at, she gave me a chance becasue of the letters Travis had written. Thanks Elder Rich

Elder Brent Longhurst was married this past weekend. It was a great event. I remember at the departing testimony meeting he introduced himself by saying " My name is Elder Longhurst and when I get home I want to get married." ( Something like that. Sorry if I misqoted Brent.) The sealing was choice and the reception too. I was able to DJ the reception which was fun. Nick Holgate and I were Groomsmen and were together for all of the festivities. Brent' s wife Hillary is a Pearl Of Great Price! (if I can use such a term.) She loves the gopel and Brent. They looked so happy. Congrats Loghurst!!!!!!!!

Dear Former Washington D.C. South Missionary;
We are writing this letter to inform you of the return home of President and Sisters Wade. They have
fought the good fight and now are home to family and friends. They are going to have an open house on
August 27, from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. at the home in Provo. The address is 1266 West 1400 North. Here are
directions. Go to Columbia Lane (behind Deseret Industries) to Grandview Lane and turn west on Grandview
Lane. Go passed the elementary school on the right to 1220 and turn left about 50 yards and turn right into
the cul-de-sac (1400 N.). The home is right in front of you. Please do the following to help us out.
1)Reply to this email so that we know you received it.
2)Give us your current address and phone number.
3)Mark your calender for a mission reunion with the Wades on Oct. 3rd
You will get an email or letter regarding this event. Tell any returned missionaries you see about the reception

Hello WDCSM Alumni! Yesterday Alfer (Elder Thompson) and I met with President and the Sisters Wade here at my office in St George. It was great to see them. They are just now getting home after having been on the road since July 2nd. They'll be living in Provo for the first little while, and then will hopefully be coming down here to St George in the fall. Their homecoming originally set for August 10th, has been cancelled and there are no plans to reschedule. President just didn't want to make a big fuss, and says he'll plan on seeing all of us FOR SURE at the reunion in October. More details to come. We had sort of planned our reception for the same weekend as his homecoming knowing a lot of you would be in town for that. We hope that you'll still come, nevertheless. All WDCSM alumni are invited and President promised he'd be there, too. Hope to see you then! Love, the Thompson's

I served in Winchester and spent many an hour working on Annie's "farm". She was a sweet lady and there are some pretty funny stories. She will be a wonderful memory for me of Winchester and the great experiences there.

Just to let all of you know that served in Winchester, Va. The famous Granie Carbal has passed away. The family wrote a letter to the church thanking all the missionaries that did service at her house. She was a awesome lady. Im sure she is now a member and doing missionary work as we speak. Does anyone remember her?

Here is a letter from Jim Vallen, I just received:
Hello all,
It was a little more eventful of a week. Yesterday we attended the funeral of
David Matthew Sepos of Pleasant Grove. He served as a missionary in the Harpers
Ferry Ward back about 3 years ago. He's the missionary that had the gall stones
and they ended up shipping him back to Utah to remove his gall bladder. He
never returned to the Washington DC South mission and he finished his mission as
a welfare services mission out here in Utah. He was always quiet and such. I
taught with him several times and he was a very spiritual missionary. He
memorized over 300 scriptures and about 125 hymns during the time he was on his
mission. That's incredible. He died when he had an epileptic attack while he
was alone in his room one night and as he fell he jammed his head between the
computer desk he had been working on and the chair and during his seizure, he
suffocated. There's really nothing no one could have done for him, Heavenly
Father was simply calling him home. His mother has terminal cancer and she'll
be joining him before the end of this year. His funeral was very spiritual and
he was well liked in his ward. His primary class (they looked about 5 or 6)
sang a song. One boy just had these tears just running down his cheeks as he
sand and he had the rest of us all wiping our eyes.
