Comments:
Melissa Miller Kincart was appointed as the Executive Director of Utah Campus Compact in January 2007. This organization serves private and public higher education institutions, helping them develop a shared commitment to the public purpose of higher education and the value of integrating service with learning. In September she joined the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education as the Associate Director of Utah Scholars. This is a new statewide initiative to encourage high school students to better prepare themselves for college and the workforce by taking a more rigorous curriculum.

Prior to these statewide positions, Melissa worked as the Assistant to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at Utah State University, primarily responsible for the retention efforts of the University. She also worked in recruitment and admissions at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and American university in Washington DC. Melissa holds a MA degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in Higher Education Leadership and Policy. Her research interests include college choice, student retention and higher education policy.

Melissa is married to Joel Boatman Kincart, who is the Assistant Dean for the College of Education at the University of Utah. They reside in East Millcreek Utah and have two children, Sydney Jo (6) and Cole Boatman (5). They have served as ordinance workers in the Washington DC Temple, and teachers in the Relief Society, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, and Primary. Most recently they served as the Ward Mission Leaders and Sunday School President and Nursery Leader. They are currently in the Valley View 7th Ward where Joel was just called as the Elders Quorum President and Melissa serves as a Gospel Doctrine teacher.

I will always be grateful to the opportunity I had to serve with many of you in the Washington Seattle Mission. I look forward to connecting with you again. Best wishes for a wonderful new year!

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
