When we first found out our son was going to Cape Verde, I received an email about mailing things. I think it said that mail arrived faster if you left "West Africa" off of the address, but I can't remember for sure. Does anyone have any hints for getting things there the quickest way possible?

35mil film will probably be your best bet. You can find roles of it on almost any island, and shops to develop it.
The only other option besides trying to send it through email (read 56k modem), or hopeing that your memory card makes it back safely home, is to find a place that'll burn a CD for you. I would think that some places with internet would have a CD burner, if not, there are a few computer stores on some islands that you can check. I'm sure it wont be cheap though. But thats your options if you want digital.
Just make sure not to get it stolen, or broken.

Does anyone know the availability of processing digital pictures. Is e-mail available? and will I be able to upload digital pictures to home for storage? Should I take a digital camera or a 35 mm?

It's been a few years since I've been to Fogo can anyone give me an update. Mosterios how is Keta the maid doing??? How about members?? Is their a branch President or are the Elders still doing that? How many members do we have in Cova? What about Sao Felipe? Need an update please. Please post or email me

Just letting everyone know that I returned to CV as a volunteer/intern for BYU during the Fall of '03 and was able to make a video about an hour and a half long with Santiago, Fogo, Sao Vicente, and Santo Antao. Complete with CV music and all the sights and sounds (dancing, katxupa, hiace rides, fishing, etc.). I'm making copies for whoever would like one. Contact me if you are interested. Does anyone know if Mosteiros has a chapel? I saw that a former mission president (Holt, I believe) took pictures of a chapel in Cova Figueira, but I wonder if there is also one in Mosteiros. When I was there (1995), there weren't even missionaries in Cova Figueira, (not to mention the mission had just opened Brava). If anyone knows anything, pass it along.

We have had our non-farewell talk by Jeff and are now looking forward to taking Jeff to the MTC on the 19th of March. I see that there are a number of us with kids going in on the same day. If anyone would like to meet for breakfast pre-drop off, or after for a little more teary dinner, please feel free to drop me an email at the address below.
