Stake Youth Sponsor Service Project

Bristol Stake Youth, under the direction of the Stake Young Men and Young Women organisations, initiated a project to help those in need in Eastern Europe. Some 100 youth together with their leaders, separated into teams of ten with the objective of designing and producing patchwork quilts. This was part of the local "Shoe Box for Christmas" appeal. The youth also covered the boxes prior to packing the quilts. A thrill ran throughout the whole group as the first quilt was turned through to the right side and completed. They marveled at how 3,000 separate squares could produce ten quilts. Prizes were awarded by the stake for the best design, best team effort, and best production. Sincere messages of love and hope were packed together with the quilts, which were shipped to the Eastern Bloc for distribution to orphans in those countries - Francis Kendall

Missionary Service Expands in Merthyr Stake

Members of the Merthyr Tydfil Ward in the refurbished Merthyr Tydfil Stake centre have been inspired to continue their efforts to spread the gospel at a local level.

Also doing their part to spread the gospel are the ward young adults who are currently serving on mission throughout the world.

At present the ward has eight full-time missionaries serving, with all enjoying success in the respective fields of labour. Those serving include seven elders and one sister. Never before has the ward in Merthyr Tydfil had so many missionaries serving at the same time - Alan Davis, Merthyr Tydfil Ward, Merthyr Tydfil Stake
