Howard Moffitt, NFEM 1954-57, suffered several massive strokes on August 13, 2008 and he passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 24,2008 at home in Fremont, CA. He was in good health until a small aneurism in his arm in the week before August 13, 2008

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the Walnut LDS Chapel in Fremont, CA (820 Walnut Ave, Fremont, CA 94538).
Before he moved last year (and before I was released as bishop), Howard was in my ward (Bayside Ward, Fremont CA Stake). He was a master teacher and retired years ago as principal of Hayward High School, Hayward, CA. He always shared his talents with others and was committed to service in our area.
Howard and I greatly enjoyed our joint love of Japan and music and spent many hours reminiscing, particularly about our time as missionaries and our subsequent trips to Japan. I was his home teacher, as well. I will truly miss his gregarious and magnificent spirit. Bp Orion Wood

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
