My husband returned from Afghanistan just one month before our second daughter, Alexandra, was born. She's now a couple weeks from her first birthday, an event my husband will miss, since he leaves a few days before her birthday for his second deployment, this one to Iraq. I'll be taking the girls to Utah and staying with family for the seven months he'll be gone this time. It's hard, but it's military life and we understand the necessity for it.
Two months after having Alex I went back to school for my MA in Secondary Education. I am on track to finish up my schoolwork before my husband gets home and I'll be doing my student teaching before my scheduled graduation in spring of 2011. I decided I'm just not happy if I'm not in school and I'm looking forward to finally becoming a certified teacher, even if I don't intend on entering the classroom any time soon.
Lizzie is now 2 1/2 and doing great as a big sister. She starts preschool this fall, another milestone her daddy is regretting he's going to miss. She is looking forward to living near a bunch of her cousins and she's currently working at getting her sister to climb as many stairs as possible. It's her mission in life.
As for church life, I was recently released from the nursery in preparation for my move and I'm trying to adjust to life in class with adults. Tripp is presenting his final lesson as a teacher in Elders' Quorum today and he's hoping to get the occassional time off in the desert to attend some sort of church meeting, something he wasn't able to do last time. We're all praying this seperation goes quickly and uneventfully and that he'll be home on time for Christmas. |
