News Item: Important News About President Paul Hyer

I was saddened to hear from President Hyer's wife, Karen, that President Hyer has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer that originates in lymphocytes. Although he has not been feeling sick, apparently the cancer is already at a serious level. He has started chemotherapy.
I'm sure President Hyer could use our prayers. I'm sure he would also appreciate your Christmas greetings. He and his wife moved just recently. Here is their new address:

President Hyer also asked me to pass along this message he received from David Evert:
"President Hyer, Just a small note to say hello. Hope you and your family are well. My Son David Jr. received his mission call today and he is going Taipei, Taiwan mission. I'm am thrilled beyond belief. Love Elder David Evert"
This is so characteristic of President Hyer to delight in seeing another related "China Hand" join the "family" and to desire to share the news with his missionaries.
I know from long experience how deeply President Hyer loves his missionaries and loves the Chinese people. He thinks of all of you often. I hope we will join our prayers in his behalf.
