Hey fellas hit me back - Mangum
I met Jake while he was serving in Ventura (11/99-02/00.) The first time I saw him I thought "Wow, what a cutie." (He was wearing a windbreaker, so I didn't see his name badge.) Well, seconds later I realized he was sitting next to a companion (Elder Rowe) and so my original thought was followed up by "Damn... he's a missionary."
Mangum and Rowe went straight to work on me that same week, and by the time I took the second discussion I was able to accept the message the missionaries were sharing and to receive my own personal testimony of the gospel, despite their flirtatious attitudes. Jake baptized me on January 23, 2000. A month later Rowe and Mangum were each transferred to different areas, and I was left to nurture and strengthen my testimony without the help of the missionaries.
Jake completed his mission and we exchanged phone numbers at his farewell. Well, this rest is still being written....
