The Spirit at Work, 2 21 Jan 2003
Elder Strasser writes: Just yesterday, Elder Beckstead and I talked with a man. He is amazing. He has had the roughest life I ever heard of and he was going to kill himself before we contacted him. As he was walking along, we heard him say, "O lord, I can't take the hurt any more! Help me out!" That was when we met him. We had a long talk with him and shared the 1st discussion, and he felt the Spirit and recognized it! He's been looking so hard for something for all of his life. It was an incredible experience.

Elder Smith writes: We taught a man from South Korea this week. It was so good. He had been studying our Church for a while and knew a little about it, but it was just the greatest discussion ever. He said the closing prayer and identified the Spirit right off the bat. A very sincere man. He had met the missionaries in Korea and they called his name in the street and gave him a Korean Book of Mormon. It was really cool!

Sister Knoles writes: Heavenly Father has been supplying people for us. I got called out of class on Sunday to meet a man, who had walked to Church on his own. We sat and taught him the first discussion right then. He knows what the Spirit is and has recognized how it has touched his life. He has been looking for a religion and said that of all the churches out here, ours is the one where people practice what they preach. He's read a lot about the Church and told us that he wants to be an "educated covert." He doesn't live in our area, but I'm so glad I was able to meet him and grow from his small testimony.

Sister Hammond writes: We are all working hard at trying to get our investigators to commit to baptism. They all seem to be in the same place and not wanting to change, but they do it because of the Spirit. So that is what we are doing, helping them to feel the Spirit.

Elder Plastow writes: We taught the 3rd discussion this week to a man and we can see how much he as grown spiritually. As I shared with him an experience my dad had, he said, "I'm feeling that tingly feeling you guys were talking about right now!" It was so cool that he knows how to recognize the Spirit.

Elder Walker writes: Yesterday was great. We've been working with a girl who had the 6 discussions in Grande Prairie and moved here, but she hadn't been progressing much. We talked about baptism and she smiled and said she'd been thinking about it a lot lately, and suddenly she just felt right about it! Before, she's had lots of concerns, but now they were no longer a problem! It changed my perspective as the Lord showed me again that he is charge of this work. I have seen so many miracles on my mission and I feel an immense gratitude to my Heavenly Father. I never expected such an awesome experience.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
- Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
